‘Working together to enrich lives.’

Barnsley Community Health

The World Health Organisation (WHO) defines health as "A state of complete physical, mental & social wellbeing & not merely the absence of disease and infirmity."

BPL Community Health can work with you and partner organisations to promote health and wellbeing for you, your friends and your family.
The Health & Wellbeing Department at BPL operates with a holistic & multi-disciplinary approach to health. Working in partnership with external organisations, BPL recognises how to improve the health of people in our communities. We have specialised, highly qualified staff who work with NHS services & clinical health practitioners based in the community & hospitals to support patients in Barnsley.

Leisure activities are recognised as a proven way of helping people with their health problems & medical conditions & can reduce the risks of heart disease & other illnesses. Research shows that physical activity can also boost self-esteem, mood, sleep quality & energy as well as reducing your risk of stress, depression, dementia and Alzheimer's disease.
If exercise were a pill, it would be one of the most cost-effective drugs ever invented - Dr Nick Cavill, Health Promotion Consultant
