A SWIM Safe message was rolled out to over 1,000 youngsters ahead of the school holidays with the warning being particularly relevant in the sweltering temperatures the country has been experiencing.
Primary pupils from 37 schools across Barnsley and Bassetlaw were visited as part of a campaign to highlight the dangers of water. The message was delivered in school assemblies to help keep youngsters safe this summer.
The visits also raised awareness of BPL’s Swim School which includes lessons giving youngsters added confidence in the water should they get into difficulty. Swim ambassadors from the leisure operator delivered the sessions accompanied by BPL mascot Derek the Dolphin.
Simon Ferrarelli, BPL corporate aquatics manager said: “Swim safety especially around the summer months is extremely important and we have been raising awareness of this campaign for several years now in a bid to keep our youngsters safe. We have had a great response from the schools since we launched the campaign and we always enjoy our visits spreading this important message.”
