Christmas Gala raises money for Charity

Dearneside Leisure Centre’s Christmas Swimming Gala has raised £420 for Hallam FM’s Cash for Kids Christmas appeal.

The event, which took place on 9th December, involved 50 children from the Centre’s Swim School stages 4 and above.

Participants were awarded certificates and selection boxes for attending the Gala.

Children competed in 27 races, which varied in strokes including breaststroke, backstroke and butterfly. Winners of each race were presented with medals- Gold, Silver and Bronze.

Money was raised through a bun sale, which were baked by parents of participants, a Tombola, raffles and games.

Dearneside Leisure Centre has previously held six Christmas galas to raise money for Hallam FM’s Cash for Christmas Appeal. The appeal aims to provide South Yorkshire’s most vulnerable children with gifts on Christmas Day.

Presents were bought with the money raised and placed under Dearneside Leisure Centre’s Christmas tree, before being sent off to Hallam FM.
