A fishing match held in the memory of a man who died of cancer, raised more than £5,800 for charity
The Nick Clark memorial fundraiser is an annual event held at Lindholme Lakes, Doncaster. It is now firmly established in the local fishing calendar.
This year’s match, held on 6th July, marked the fundraisers 8th anniversary, with cancer charity Leeds Cares benefitting from entry fees and sponsorship.
Entrants were required to raise a minimum of £25 sponsorship fees to compete.
Several local businesses donated prizes for a raffle, including Barnsley Premier Leisure, which donated Family Swim ‘n Bowl vouchers.
Meadowhall and Crystal Peaks Shopping Centres also donated prizes for the raffle.
Darren Lemons, who works at Analan Supplies Limited, approached Mick Daley for a donation.
He said: “It was a brilliant day, there was about 65 fishers in total. We held a minute’s silence for Nick before we started fishing.
“The businesses that donated we so generous and helped us raised this fantastic amount. We’ve already got next year’s event booked; we’re looking forward to it!”
